Liebe Freunde!

Heute ist der 6.August und ich bin heute 3 km vor Sarria, von wo aus die letzten 100km bis nach Santiago beginnen. Ein wunderbarer Weg durch Spanien liegt hinter mir, die Meseta von Burgos bis nach Leon, zwei Staedte mit beeindruckenden Kathedralen und vielem mehr! Nach Leon ging es in die Montes de Leon nach Astorga und von hier hoch hinauf zum "Cruz de Ferro" auf 1500 Meter, wo viele Pilger Steine ablegen, wie auch ich, die sie von zu Hause mitgebracht habe um symbolisch Sorgen und Dank zum Kreuz bringen um sie dort hinter sich zu lassen. Auch ich habe einige Steine abgelegt, die ich von Deutschland aus 2200km in Gedanken an viele und vieles in meinem Rucksack getragen habe und ich habe am 2.August ganz besonders an euch alle gedacht! Gestern, am 5.August, habe ich den O Ceibreiropass uberquert und bin nun in Galizien! Morgen beginnen die letzten hundert Kilometer und ich bin gespannt, wie viele Pilger mit uns unterwegs sein werden. Geniesse die kuehlere Gegend Galiziens und die wunderschoenen Berge, Baeume, Felder, Weiden...!

Dear friends!

Today is the 6th of August and I am 3 km before Sarria, here the last 100km to Santiago begin! A wonderful way through Spain is lying behind me, the way through the Meseta, which is lying between Burgos and Leon - two wonderful cities on the pilgrims-way with magnificant cathedrals and lots of flair! After Leon the Montes de Leon begin and lead pilgrims to Astorga and from there back to the mountains, which is wonderful after so many days of flat country side! I passed the "Cruz de ferro" on the 2nd of August, an old Pilgrims cross, where people put down stones, which they have brought from home - a symbolic act, to leave all sorrows behind and also give thanks! I also put some stones to the cross, which I carried 2200 km from Germany and I was thinking of all of you! That day I also passed the highest point of the camino, 1500 meter above sea level, and I really enjoy to be in the mountains again. Yesterday I pass the border to Galicia, which is wonderful green and with a lot of trees and also mountains and now the end comes very close! Tomorrow the last 100km begin and it will be interesting, how many people will be on the way.
